The nerves in an ear?

I got my cartilage pierced yesterday.. I got it done right at my helix and today my neck is kinda sore near te back and very tense. My dad told me once that piercings can cause nerve damage. So i wanna know if there is a nerve in your ear that connects to your neck somehow? Thnx
