How to deal with a cyst while you have your period?

I just had a pilonidal cyst drained and I'm supposed to get my period sometime soon and I wear pads. This seems difficult because if you're laying down or sitting the blood eventually ends up in the back and I can't get the bandage wet or anything. What do I do?!
