Can the nunchuck be used in Wii Pac-Man Party game?

My wife and I want to re-live the pacman game but find the maneuvering to be very clumsy with the regular controller. We plugged in the nunchuk... the game doesn't say to unplug it, but apparently we can't move the pacman with the thing. What are we doing wrong? Does the game disallow using the nunchuck? How can we get the nunchuck to work with this game?
